AL BAROON approached ART GATE with a clear objective: create a premium printed menu that reflects the quality of its dining experience while increasing customer engagement and encouraging higher-value orders. The existing menu lacked visual consistency and did not communicate the restaurant’s premium positioning. ART GATE was commissioned to completely redesign the menu and produce a fresh library of professional food and beverage photography that could also be reused across digital marketing channels.
The final deliverable became much more than a menu—it became one of the restaurant’s strongest sales and branding tools.

The project presented several key challenges:
• A large and diverse menu including coffee, beverages, breakfast, desserts, and Turkish specialties.
• Food photography needed to remain authentic while appearing premium.
• The menu had to remain easy to navigate despite containing dozens of items.
• The visual identity needed to balance modern café aesthetics with the restaurant’s warm hospitality.
• Photography and layout had to work together rather than compete for attention.
Before any design work began, the menu was reorganized into logical customer journeys.
Categories were carefully grouped into:
This simplified browsing and reduced decision fatigue while creating natural upselling opportunities between categories. Well-designed menus can improve readability and influence purchase decisions by guiding guests through the selection process.
ART GATE directed and photographed the complete menu inside the restaurant.
The photography process focused on:
Each hero image was photographed to stimulate appetite while remaining faithful to the dishes served.
The drinks photography highlighted:
Desserts were captured using shallow depth of field to emphasize texture and richness.
Professional photography is widely recognized as a key factor in improving menu appeal because customers often “eat with their eyes first.”
After the photo shoot, every image underwent professional post-production including:
The goal was not to create unrealistic food, but to present every dish at its absolute best.
The menu was designed using a clean editorial layout that balances photography with typography.
Design decisions included:
Instead of overcrowding every page with photos, selected signature dishes became visual anchors that guide customers naturally through the menu.
